“There are currently many technologies available to assist employees with disabilities in the workplace, whether they are affected by vision, speech, hearing, or mobility impairments. Such tools enable disabled employees to be as productive as their nondisabled colleagues. Driven by the federal government’s Americans with Disabilities Act and the country’s aging population, the assistive-technology marketplace now boasts almost 2,000 companies selling over 18,000 products, according to AbleData, an organization providing information on assistive products that is sponsored by The National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research.”
